Taiwan Residents Not Required To Foreign Investment Approval in Some Cities & Provinces

The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) has announced that with retroactive effect from 1 January 2012 residents from Taiwan who apply for individual industrial and commercial registration in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hubei, Guangdong, Chongqing and Sichuan are no longer required to obtain foreign investment approval such that the registration may be directly completed with the local authorities of industry and commerce which have jurisdiction over the locality where the businesses are proposed to be operated.
